April 2015 Favorites

This year is going by insanely fast that it's almost halfway in! Here are a few of my favorite things this month in beauty and fashion.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation - Target
I bought this several months ago, used it for a bit, and liked it until I got the Mac Pro Long Wear foundation, but since that one is a bit too heavy for warmer seasons, I went back to using this because it goes on a lot more lightweight and natural while still providing a great amount of coverage.
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer - Target
Here's an old primer that I got months ago and disappointed me quite a bit, but lately, parts of my skin have been extremely dry that my foundations are emphasizing all the patchiness, but this helps a lot with minimizing that crusty look. Since it's geared more towards dry skin (which is why I never liked it before since I have oily skin), I've found great use out of it when my skin acts up.
L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara - Target
Here's another oldie that initially didn't impress me, but after doing the Vaseline eyelash treatment on a regular basis (which I genuinely think works like a charm), I've been enjoying this mascara a whole lot more. If you didn't know how this used to look on me before the treatment, it really didn't do much to my lashes at all, but as you can see above, it looks so much better now and actually gives the illusion of falsies.

Flame Shape Nylon Powder Brush - Light in the Box
I got this Real Techniques dupe from Light in the Box and I've been absolutely loving it as a underye setting brush. I initially bought it so I can use it for contouring, but it's a little too dense that it doesn't blend the product as smoothly. It is super soft though it totally smells like marshmallows!
Large Fan Brush - Light in the Box
I received this from a giveaway that I won last year and it came in a big set of brushes, most of which I use except for a few that I never thought would be any good, including this. Now that my contour game is getting pretty strong though, I revisited this brush kit and found this huge, fluffy, dense fan brush that I thought would be perfect for intensifying my contour, and it definitely is! Since it's so soft yet dense, it blends the product seamlessly and it's particularly great for when I want to visibly sculpt the contours of my face.
Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Lavender - Target
Spring's the perfect time to play around with pastels, but since I usually like to keep it neutral with my clothing, I change up my nail colors instead. This one is definitely my new favorite spring shade, which is a stunning satin lavender that I just find very flattering on my nails.
Rimmel Provocalips Lip Color in Heart Breaker - Target
I've featured this in my previous favorites post, but I thought I'd give a little more detail now that I've been using it even more often this month. It's certainly a struggle to find a liquid lipstick that truly stays on my lips without looking patchy or uneven, but I finally came across the perfect formula that actually lasts me at least 8 hours even after heavy meals! Good news is that you can find it in Target for a super affordable price instead of buying those high-end ones that don't even work that well. This one in Heartbreaker is, again, that "me" shade so I've clearly been wearing it almost every day for the past month. Once you figure out how to apply it correctly, there's literally nothing bad about it!
The weather's been up there lately, so I've been pretty lazy with my outfits. One way to make sure that I stay in style though is by wearing grungy muscle tees with distressed bottoms. If I'm not rocking the boho chic look, I always go back to black and edgy, and I feel like a vintage muscle tee perfectly gives that feel.
DIY Shredded Leggings
Speaking of muscle tees, I've been wearing them almost consistently with these DIY ripped leggings that I made. It's the perfect way to grunge up a relatively basic look, and it's great for the summertime because of the distressed, airy details. It's one of the many ways to rock a black piece in hot weather!
Blue Asphalt Cuffed Denim Shorts - Wet Seal
Although I have quite a wide collection of shorts, I always have a hard time finding the right fit. A few pairs I have are very loose on the thighs which I don't like, but these are absolutely perfect because they're pretty snug. I just wish they were in a darker wash but Wet Seal didn't have it in my size at the time.
Forever 21 Cherry Blossom Woven Kimono - Poshmark
I finally got a hold of this gorgeous kimono after nearly a year of waiting. I actually got a second-hand one from Poshmark because Forever 21 sold out once again and I wasn't lucky enough to catch it on sale, but this is good enough. It's definitely one of my favorite kimonos in my collection!

That's all for April. I'm really hoping to post my massive spring/summer clothing haul soon along with an easy DIY, so stayed tuned! Thanks for dropping by!
