January Favorites 2014

Here's to my first monthly favorites of the year! Read more to see product details.

Beauty
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Sultry
This is probably my most raved about lip product since I purchased it a few weeks ago. It's been my absolute go-to everywhere because it's perfect for every occasion - from casual to dressy. Feel free to read my review to see what it's all about!

Daiso contour brush
The first place I go to when I'm at Daiso is the cosmetic section because they always have a wide variety of decent quality makeup and beauty tools - all for $1.50! This contour brush is actually really impressive for its price. It's the perfect size for contouring my cheek bones, and it's quite dense, which makes it easier to sculpt my face.
Daiso eyebrow pencil
I recently took eyebrow fillers seriously because I finally achieved my desired shape. This one from Daiso is a great starter because it's a double-sided tube - one with a pencil and one with a spoolie. The pencil side is in a convenient angular shape, which gives a sharper and more precise application. The consistency isn't very pigmented, but I actually really like that because it's easier to control how much product I want. Some days, I like to fill in my eyebrows very lightly and some days I want them bold. It also has a thick waxy texture, which makes it last the whole day. One downside is that I believe it only comes in one color - dark brown. I just dyed my hair lighter, so I'm gonna have to find a new one, and I really hope they'll have a wider color selection next time.
Daiso eyelash curler
Last one from Daiso is this partial eyelash curler that I've been using for the month. It takes a bit longer to use than a regular eyelash curler, but it curls all of my lashes as you can see on the comparison photo above.

Fashion
Almost Famous High Waisted Shorts
As I mentioned in my previous clothing haul, I've been looking for something like this for quite some time, and now that I finally found the perfect pair, it's been part of many of my daily outfits. I'm a huge fan of anything high waisted and distressed, and the fact that this one is black makes it all the more versatile.

Daiso knitted turban
I've been looking for turban beanies everywhere and they're nowhere to be found - even online - but out of all the places, I found one at Daiso, and it only costed $3! This has been a winter essential for me, even though California winter was more like spring this year. I did an outfit post featuring this item here, so check that out if you want!

Music
Ain't It Fun - Paramore

This song is my anthem, enough said. I don't care if people say that Paramore changed so much and turned into a pop band and whatnot. This song puts great meaning to independence and reality, and it really does sound "fun" despite the somewhat depressing message.

Random
My biggest favorite of the month is definitely this little thing. Meet Finn the Dog (in reference to Adventure Time, of course)! We've been wanting a dog for years now, and he's been a perfect addition to the family. Thanks a bunch to my good friends, Phoebe and Naomi, for being kind enough to give away one of their puppies!

That's it for my January favorites! Stay tuned for a series of posts before I go back to school for spring semester!
