Peace of Mind

I finally got to shoot at the beautiful Japanese Gardens with the help of two of my good friends, so we definitely had loads of fun even if we got scolded by one of the employees for taking portraits. We actually had no idea that photoshoots weren't allowed! Anyway, here are only some of the countless shots that we took that day.
I highly recommend living in lightweight dresses in the summer, especially if you live in southern California. They're so breezy and comfortable yet super chic and feminine. This dress, as I've mentioned quite a few times already, is an absolute favorite of mine. It has everything boho-chic: the wide bell sleeves, dainty detailing, shapeless fit, and off-the-shoulder neckline - which I'm sure you guys already know is something I can't resist.

I went for a classic black floppy hat for my accessories to add a more urban element to the outfit, and it's also a great way to protect your face from the sun!

These edgy ankle boots are from Light in the Box, which I won from a giveaway a few weeks ago. If you wanna read the whole haul with everything I received from that contest, click here.

On another note, this is actually the first time I've used my new-ish Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens for a photoshoot, and I think it's working pretty well so far. I'm thinking of investing in a newer version of the Canon Rebel line sometime in the future, but for now I'll settle for my worn down t1i.
And of course, I can't forget to thank my beautiful photographers and dear friends, Jan and Frieda, for doing this photoshoot with me! It was a great way to spend more time with them before I move to Irvine.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I guess this will be the first outfit in my summer 2014 lookbook, so hopefully I'll have a couple more for the next couple months. Thanks for reading and I'll catch you on my next one!

  1. Love this! You look so cute and so do Jan and Frieda! Yeah photoshoots aren't allowed… you need to be discrete! We asked for permission in the gift store and they warned us about the security man… but we broke the rules a few times. :p The things we do for photography.
