April 2014 Favorites

I'm a bit behind as always, but here's another monthly favorites! Not too many products stood out to me this month only because I'm on a makeup shopping hiatus and I haven't worn most of the clothes that I recently purchased online, so this will be a very short one.

Beauty
Givenchy Le Rouge in 202 Rose Dressing
First of all, can we just talk about the classy, luxurious packaging? And this is only a sample! I actually got this from a swap at MakeupTalk when I traded in my Cailyn tinted lip balm from Ipsy's April Glam Bag simply because I didn't like the color. This lovely lady was kind enough to offer two of her products for my lip balm, so I chose this one because I can never have too many lipsticks. I'll probably do a more in-depth review sometime, so I'll just end it by saying that this stuff is amazing so far. If you want to trade any of your unused makeup, definitely check out Mayra's massive list of beauty goodies here! Shipping is super fast and she includes little extras in the package!
Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Eyeliner in Black Velvet
This was probably my favorite item from this month's Ipsy glam bag because I'm a huge fan of dark, opaque eyeliner. I've also always wanted to buy Urban Decay's waterproof eyeliners, but they were way too expensive, so I'm glad I got a sample size of their new product! This is super creamy, pigmented, and long-lasting, and I absolutely love it.
Fashion
Black Distressed High Waisted Shorts
Just when I told myself not to buy any more high-waisted shorts (stay tuned for a collection post coming up soon!), this amazing online store called Papers & Peonies decided to have a 20% deal on Easter, so I really couldn't resist. This is what I hate about online shopping - I have no self-control whatsoever. Anyway, this pair has to be one of my favorites because not only does it happen to fit me perfectly, but it's also extremely high-waisted, as in way above my belly button - which means I can wear my super cropped tops without revealing too much skin. The only downside is that it's a huge lint magnet! Here's how I first styled it:

Cold Shoulder Tiered Peasant Top
I don't wear dresses too often, but I think I just found my all-time favorite. While I'm still lusting over Urban Outfitters' version simply because it comes with wider bell sleeves and other colors, this one is a very close dupe and I only got it for $5 during Wet Seal's Easter promotion (it's unfortunately sold out at the moment). It'll definitely be a spring and summer essential when I feel extra fancy on casual days.

Music

I feel like this is gonna be one of those songs that the radio will overplay, but while it's still fairly new in the media, it's been on repeat for me lately. I love the soulful tone of his voice and the emotion that the lyrics deliver!

TV

I finally caught up on season 2 of Hannibal, and it just gets more and more intense. Brilliant acting and hauntingly disturbing as always.
Detentionaire
This one might be kinda silly, but I don't know why I just heard about this show (maybe because it only aired in Canada). It's probably one of the best cartoons to ever exist on television. It literally has the most diverse cast with many POC characters including a Korean-American protagonist whose best friends are Latino and Swedish. It also has a very deep, mysterious storyline, and it breaks all kinds of stereotypes which is very unusual in a high school setting. Before this post turns into a TV show review, I'll leave my thoughts here, but you can find more about its greatness on this post.

That wraps up my April favorites! On another note, I'd love it if you'd check out my Vinted closet if you're interested in buying very inexpensive, barely-used clothes. Poshmark wasn't quite working for me, so I'm giving this one a shot, and so far it's great!
Thanks for reading!
