I'll stop wearing black when they invent a darker color

It's a nice sunny day outside, but I just had the need to wear a dark monochromatic outfit, so here's a relatively casual look I put together.
I kept it basic with a black crop top that I created out of a thermal shirt and paired it with my favorite high waisted shorts from Wet Seal. This isn't exactly a spring look, but I've been wanting to style this cap since I bought it, and this was the first outfit on my mind. I also went with my trustee oxford heels from Payless since these are my only pure black shoes. I'm currently on a hunt for some chunky-heeled ankle boots, but it's so hard to find the perfect one (preferably affordable).

For accessories, I opted for a thin belt with a gold buckle to add a subtle color to the look and give the illusion of a smaller waist. I also added this vintage key necklace just because it feels a little incomplete without some kind of unique accessory. I typically don't include hand bags in my outfits, but it felt empty with this one, so I grabbed my go-to Coach purse, which was a hand-me-down from my mom!

Lastly, I tied it all together with a black newsboy cap from Zizibeh. I love how it instantly makes an outfit look urban. I'm not a big fan of caps mainly because of the snapback trend, but newsboy caps look a lot more polished and less obnoxious (sorry to those who wear snapbacks).

I figured that bold cat eyes and nude lips would be perfect for this dark outfit, so I extended my winged eyeliner a bit more than I usually do and went with my Wet 'n Wild neutral lipstick to draw attention to the eye makeup.
